New Computer Architectures and Chip-level Optical Interconnect
August 8, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
Abstract: In big data and cloud computing era, because of data and computing requirement explosive, traditional computer architecture are facing more challenges. In current computer, the interconnect between processing chips is based on copper technology. This raise power, crosstalk, and distance problems, and also constraint the design of computer architecture. Optic technology is a very good candidate in this field. It has advantage such as power, distance, bandwidth over electric technology. In this talk, I will give some analysis to current problems that exist in computer architecture, and introduce some new computer architectures we proposed, and discuss the essential components needed in building a computer which is based on chip-level optical interconnect.
