Prof. Reza Soleymani, Winner of the 2016 IEEE NAR Exceptional Service Award

The IEEE Montreal Section is pleased to announce that Prof. Reza Soleymani, a professor at Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at Concordia University, was selected as the 2016 winner of the NAR Exceptional Service Award for his great contributions made over several years to the IEEE Montreal Section and especially towards the IEEE Communications and Information Theory Society Chapter’s success. The award is presented to a chapter volunteer who has been nominated by their chapter chair.

Prof. Reza Soleymani received a B.S. from the University of Tehran in 1976, M.S. from San Jose State University in 1977, and a Ph.D. degree from Concordia University in 1987 (all in Electrical Engineering). From 1987 to 1990 he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, McGill University. From Oct. 1990 to January 1998, he was with EMS Technologies Ltd. (formerly Spar Aerospace Ltd.) where he had the leading role in the design and development of several satellite communications systems. In January 1998, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Concordia University where he is presently a Professor. His current research interests include Digital Communications, Satellite Communications, Communications Networks, Information Theory and Coding, Data Compression and Source Coding.
