Dr. Ke Wu, Winner of the 2015 IEEE Montreal Section Medal of Achievement.

The IEEE Montreal Section is pleased to announce that the winner of its 2015 Medal of Achievement is Professor Ke Wu of the École Polytechnique de Montréal. This medal, the highest honour of the IEEE Montréal Section, is awarded annually to recognize “Contributions to society and to the fields of interest of IEEE”.

Dr. Wu has had an extraordinarily productive career. He is the author, inventor and co-inventor of many seminal contributions in the fields of Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering such as the first universal/joint field model for high frequency circuit design, the first time-agile joint radio-radar cognitive architecture, and the wireless multi-port (six-port) interferometer. He is considered as the “father” of Substrate Integrated Wave-guide (SIW) technology which has changed the landscape of research and development in the Radio Frequency, Microwave, Millimeter Wave, and TeraHertz fields. Dr. Wu is the 2016 President of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Society.

Professor Wu’s contributions to the local research, education and business community are equally important. He is the founder of the Centre de Recherche en Électronique Radio fréquence (CREER), which links researchers in the microwaves field across Québec Universities. Dr. Wu was the general chair of the “2012 International Microwave Symposium” in Montréal, the flagship conference of the IEEE MTT Society with over 10,000 attendees.

The Medal will be presented at the IEEE Montréal Section`s Annual Banquet at the Montréal`s Hyatt Regency Hotel on October 16, 2015.
