Sustainable Feet-On-The-Ground Humanitarian Technology

April 15, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Nowadays, we are surrounded by technologies that have the potential to transform and positively impact the lives of underserved communities around the globe. However, in practice, the deployment of humanitarian technologies needs to consider many factors for a successful achievement, such as sustainability, reliability, socio-economic situation and environment risks. The goal of this event is to provide guidelines to make a humanitarian technology project sustainable while taking into account local challenges and the actual social impact.

Recognized speakers will share examples of real projects already implemented in Canada in order to inspire engineers and students to provide “feet-on-the-ground” solutions to local community needs. The two main speakers are both outstanding IEEE Canada volunteers and heavily involved in humanitarian technology. Moreover, a representative of Hacking Health, a non profit organization with which IEEE SIGHT Montreal has established a collaboration/partnership recently, will give an introduction to what they do to create innovative solutions to actual healthcare challenges.
