International Standards for Very Small Entities Developing System or Software
December 2, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Montreal Technology and Engineering Management (TEMS) Society is pleased to Host this session.
Abstract
A large majority of enterprises worldwide are very small. In Europe, for instance over 92% of enterprises, called micro-enterprises, have up to 9 employees and another 6.5%, called small enterprises, have between 10 and 49 employees. Micro enterprises account for 70% to 90% of enterprises in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD 2005) countries and about 57% in USA. In Canada, close to 98% of businesses are small businesses with fewer than 50 employees. About 32% of these have up to 19 employees.
In this presentation, a perspective on the development of ISO/IEC 29110 standards and management and engineering guides and an outline of a series of deployment packages, developed to facilitate the implementation of the ISO/IEC 29110, are discussed. We will also present examples of start-ups and mature companies, of the Montréal area, that have implemented ISO 29110 to develop systems or software products.
