Flight management systems are at the core of the cockpit computer software.
The cost index is a parameter provided by the pilot to the flight management systems for
a given airline flight.
The cost index is a parameter provided to the pilot by the airline Operation Control/Dispatch to be inserted the flight management systems to operate the flight according to
the airline’s needs and to minimize overall operational costs.
In this seminar we will define this parameter and will describe the impact that the cost
index has in flight management systems.
In particular we will talk about calculating the Cost Index for specific airlines and tactical applications of the Cost Index.
Examples from Airbus and Boeing will be covered.
