Advances in High-Speed DACs, ADCs, and DSP for Next Generation Optical Transceivers
April 25, 2014 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
The use of digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters (DACs and ADCs) and high-speed digital signal processing (DSP) in combination with powerful electro-optic subsystems has changed the landscape of high capacity optical communications. We review state-of-the-art DACs, ADCs, as well as DSP functions for software defined optical modems using rich modulation formats. These next generation optical transceivers will enable bit rates from 100 Gb/s to 400 Gb/s and 1 Tb/s. We show examples from test bed to product and beyond.
