100 Gbit/s Using Intensity Modulation and Direct Detection for Short Reach Applications
April 17, 2014 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Recent advances in 100 Gbit/s intensity modulation and directed detection systems are first reviewed. Then, the advantages of using digital-to-analog converters, analog-to-digital converters, and digital signal processors in the transmitter and receiver are presented by considering a specific implementation based on 16-ary quadrature-amplitude-modulation, half-cycle Nyquist-subcarrier-modulation. Based on directly modulated 56 Gbit/s passive feedback lasers, the performances of a dual-polarization, single-carrier approach and a single-polarization, dual-carrier approach are presented.
