Biological and Biomedical Engineering Symposium 2015

September 25, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - September 27, 2015 @ 3:00 pm

Co-sponsored by: SPIE, McGill University, University of Toronto,

The field of biomedical engineering is characterized by a myriad of topics including medical optics and imaging, signal processing, biomaterials, and biosensors. This richness and diversity also means that is is increasingly hard to unite students under the same umbrella. We feel this is a great loss for both personal and professional development. With that in mind, we decided to create a conference on a unifying topic that will bring together students and researchers from different backgrounds: Collaboration and Professional Development. We plan to stimulate these points through a number of opportunities over a 2 and half days event. (1) 3-minute thesis competition where judges are asked to give 2 positives and 1 negative feedbacks; (2) 2 graded poster sessions will be offered with the instruction to prepare 10 min presentation for judges; (3) Networking sessions with students, professors and industrial partners; (4) Panel discussion on professional development; (5) Keynotes lectures.

Speaker(s): Karen J.L. Burg, Bernard Allan Cohen
