Women in Computing

You are invited to hear about experiences of successful women leaders in computing industry. Join us to learn about the latest advances in the field of computer engineering. This seminar will cover topics specific to mobile applications development with a link to their practical implementation in an Android environment. Take advantage of the opportunity to discover real world applications of computer engineering concepts through innovative contributions of women leaders solving complex problems and creating positive impact in our daily lives.

Event is free, but spaces are limited! For this event, light lunch will be provided. Please register so that we can anticipate the number of attendees and order food accordingly.

 

Véronique Bouffard graduated in 2003 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science focusing on operations research.  She obtained her degrees from the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research (DIRO) at Université de Montréal. After her studies, Véronique began her career at GIRO Inc. as an analyst-programmer in the development of optimization algorithms for HASTUS software. She was subsequently promoted to several different roles and just over a year ago, she was appointed Team Leader of the Optimization Algorithms Team for HASTUS software.

 

Pascale Elvas is the Director of the Canadian Digital Service. She is currently serving as National Co-Chair of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. Previously, Pascale was Director of Identity Policy and Partnerships at Service Canada, and Director of the Blueprint 2020 National Secretariat. Pascale also worked as Senior Advisor in the Office of the President of Shared Service Canada, having joined the department at the time of its creation. Pascale holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Ottawa and won a Public Service Award of Excellence for innovation.

 

Ronald Jean-Julien received his master’s degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2013. Prior to that, he received a master’s degree from Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis in Mobiquity, Databases and System integration and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics engineering from State University of Haiti. In 2013, he joined the Department of Information Technology at Gérald Godin College where he is currently working as a Professor. He has a long professional experience in the telecom and software engineering area. His expertise mainly lies in software development and testing of network protocols and services in wired and wireless networks with strong focus on iOS and Android mobile and web applications.
